“Oy! Where are you going ________?” Havoc called after you as you walked down the hall.

“Nowhere! Now I suggest you keep your big assed nose out of my business!” You yelled back at him, turning around a corner of the military building and disappearing from sight.

“Woah, jeez.” Havoc mumbled.

“She’s right! You really need to mind your own business sometimes.” Fuery said as Havoc walked back into the conference room, shutting the door.

“Yeah, but haven’t you noticed she’s been kinda moody lately?” He pointed out.

“Now that I think about it, she HAS been kinda moody. I’ve noticed it in her work. Her reports aren’t thorough and she misses important points we make too.” Hawkeye said.

You were a state alchemist working for the military. You had just begun a couple of months ago, when your parents abandoned you. Four months ago, your parents left you to fend for yourself. The called you a pointless and useless child that no one would ever want. The day they left you was the day you started to study alchemy. You had your nose in every book you could get your hands on. Within a month, through trial and error, you had learned enough to enter the state alchemist test. You were a quick learner and passed the test with flying colours. You were pretty damn powerful too. One of the youngest to ever become a state alchemist. There was only one other young one though.

“I bet I know why ________ seems so strange lately.” Roy piped up.

“Oh? And what’s your theory?” Hawkeye asked.

“Edward Elric.” He smirked.

Edward Elric. When you first joined the military, he was your first friend. First friend ever to be exact. You became close friends with him and his brother Alphonse fairly quickly. Over time though, you had started to like Edward. A lot.

“What?!” Fuery screeched in surprise.

“Isn’t it a bit obvious? The way she acts around him! Haven’t you noticed?” Roy said.

“Recently he left for an important assignment, remember? He’s been gone for at least three weeks. She probably misses him.” He added smugly.

“You’re probably right. Just the way she’s been acting these past weeks, she’s been kinda isolated.” Hawkeye said.

“NOW WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BE ISOLATED FROM US?!”” Armstrong yelled from the back of the room.

“Anyone would want to isolate themselves from you.” Everyone said flatly.

“Anyways! Back on topic. How should we get ______ to feel better?” Havoc asked.

Everyone looked at Roy, expecting him to do something.

“What? It’s not like I can call him back from his mission.” Roy shrugged.

Just then the phone rang. Roy picked it up and turned around in his chair to take the call. When he was finished, he turned back around with a smile spread across his face.

“Well isn’t this convenient! FullMetal has finished his assignment and will be back in Central today!” Roy announced.

“That’s great news!” Hawkeye said cheerfully.

“So, what did you tell him?” Fuery asked.

Roy rested his chin on his hand, “Well, I told him to first write out his report on the train so there would be no long explanation. He asked why and I told him about _______. Nothing much but the fact that she was feeling a bit down. He then said he would be back right away. I could totally sense the concern in his voice.” He explained.

“Ahhh, I see. We’ll just have to leave this one up to Elric then.” Hawkeye nodded.

“Tch, he totally likes her.” Havoc scoffed, flicking his cigarette.

“You’re just jealous because you can’t get a girl!” Fuery taunted.

Havoc froze and turned completely white, falling to the floor, stiff as a plank. Everyone laughed and soon dispersed from the room, Armstrong dragging Havoc by his foot behind them. Now all they had to do was wait for Ed to show up and do the rest.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

~Ed’s POV~

“Damn it! Stupid assed train delay!” I cursed.

“It’s alright brother! We’re here now! It wasn’t that bad of a delay!” Al said reassuringly to me.

“Y’know I’d take your head and throw it at the conductor but you’re not a suit of armor anymore.” I said smugly.
“But I should hurry up and get this report to Mustang’s desk and find _______. By Roy’s description, she ain’t feeling so hot right now.”

“Right, right. I’ll go run some errands for now. See ya tomorrow bro!” Al called, running off somewhere.

“God, I hope I’m not too late.” I thought out loud, sprinting into the giant military building.

~Your POV~

You had made your third lap around the building in a slow, depressing walk. It was five o’ clock and everyone was leaving for their rooms from their jobs. You sighed and walked into Roy Mustang’s office expecting him to be there. No one was in sight. Just his swiveling chair with wheels and a spare in the corner.

“I should really go back to my room, but there is nothing really for me to do there.” You mumbled to yourself. “I don’t think it would hurt to hang out here for a while.” You said, plopping down in the swivel chair with the back facing the door.

While you sat there, you remembered the time you and Ed would take Roy’s chairs and race them down the halls just to piss him off. You smiled at these good memories while you spun the chair left and right. Then, you stared to think of now. Edward was almost never around. You had stopped fooling around with him because of work. And now, he has been gone for three weeks straight without a word. It hurt to have him gone so long. You missed him. His smile, hair, personality, jokes, everything. You couldn’t have fun with him anymore, or tell him some important words. Three simple words that you wanted to say so badly it ripped through your heart. What if he died? It’s been three weeks. Anything could have happened. And now, you just realized you were crying. Tears streamed down your face, but no sound came out. Besides, if it was out loud, someone would come in and see what’s up and you weren’t ready to discuss your feelings with anyone yet. You wept silently in the chair, hair hanging off the arm as the sun slowly started to slowly disappear.

Then, you thought you heard the door to Roy’s office open, but that couldn’t be right. Everyone had gone to their dorms or a bar or something. But someone definitely came in. Papers were set down on the desk and footsteps approached your chair from behind. Your face was buried in your knees so you couldn’t see who it was.

“_______, are you okay?” A male voice asked.

That voice. You recognized it immediately. Your eyes widened and you brought your head from your knees to look up, tears still on your face. It was Edward. Edward Elric was here. He came back.

“_______?” He asked again, voice filled with concern.

You didn’t answer. You just looked at him as your eyes began filling with tears again. You then threw yourself into his arms and let the tears fall, actually crying out loud this time. Ed was taken by surprise a bit but wrapped his arms around you in a hug and sat down in the chair you were in, pulling you onto his lap. You clung to his red cloak and sobbed into his chest.

“D-damn it! Why do you have to be gone for s-so long?” You said between sobs.

“It’s just what I’m told to do. I didn’t expect this mission to be this long.” He said apologetically.

“I-I missed you.” You said. “A shit load.”

Edward was speechless. He just sighed and let you cry yourself out while he rubbed your back. While he did so, he thought about something. Something he had been meaning to say.

When you finished crying, you loosened your grip and sat up on his knee.

“Sorry about that. I-I kinda let my emotions take over.” You apologised.

“Nah, its okay. I should apologise for being gone so long all the time.” He said, rubbing the back of his head.

You got up and dragged Roy’s other chair over and sat down beside Ed.

“I thought I’d grab this chair so I could sit down properly. Besides, I don’t feel like crushing your leg with my fat ass.” You joked, regaining our sense of humor.

Edward laughed. “I don’t think you could have! That was my automail leg!”

“Still, I could have! I mean you are kind of a shorty!” You grinned.

A vain popped out on Edward’s head and he immediately went into rage mode.

“WHO ARE YOU CALLING A SHORTY WHO CAN’T EVEN SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF A GIRL?!” He ranted, flailing his clenched fists over his head.

The moment he raged was the moment you started laughing. Hard. You leaned on the arm of the chair for support and held your stomach with your other hand as you kept laughing. Pretty soon you fell off your chair and hit the floor with a thud which made you laugh even harder.

“Hahah! I’ve missed your hilarious rants too!” You said between laughs.

Edward stopped raging and looked at you rolling on the floor laughing, confused. He then smiled and sat back down. He was also laughing at you. You were so darn goofy! (Now THAT is a legit lawl) He let you finish your laughing session which lasted probably about a minute, but he was laughing too so it was more like laughing sessions. You finally got back up on your chair, still giggling a bit.

“Y’know ________, I bet there is more to what you also miss about me being here.” Ed said with a hint of mischievousness in his voice, looking at the chair and then the door.

It took a while for you to catch on, but you got it. “OOOOOOHH! I see where you’re going with this!” You grinned.

You pushed your chair around the desk and out the door with your feet. Edward followed you out into the hall and the two of you faced the backs of your chairs to the part of the hall that had stairs. The old route you guys always took for fun.

“ITS CHAIR RACIN’ TIME!”  You yelled gleefully, throwing your hands up in the air.

“COUNT DOWN!” Ed cheered. “3,”

“2,” You chimed.

“1,”

“GO!” You both said with emphasis as you kicked your feet off the floor, sending your chairs flying down the hall.

You whizzed down the hall with pretty damn good speed for an office chair. A 90 degree left turn was coming up ahead, and you both knew about it cause this was the route you ALWAYS took. You slowed down your chair and let Ed’s pass yours a bit for an accurate turn. You turned your chairs counter clockwise and you reached out and grabbed Ed’s hand, pulling him to your path to you could kick off the wall equally.

The corner came and both of you kicked the wall sharply, propelling you down the hall in a different direction. This time, Ed slowed down his chair ad let you pass. You directed your chairs so they were lined up with the stairs in the most perfect way. Yes, the stairs. Down a whole floor and it’s a square spiral too. You stuck out your right hand and waited for the first bump. When you felt it, you slapped your hand on the railing for support. You watched as Ed’s automail hand hit the railing with a clink sound. He looked over the back of his chair and gave you a huge smile. You gave him a big grin back as you hit the turn on the stairs. You tightened your grip on the railing and pulled a 180 down the stairs screaming “WOOOOOHOOOO!”

Once your chair hit solid ground again, you were grinning like an idiot, laughing. Ed’s chair sped up until he was beside yours, sitting cross legged.

“How’s your arm?” He asked, smirking.

“Pffff, better than ever! But you had it easy cause your arm is frickin automail!” You responded.

Both of you were to busy laughing to notice the wall. When you decided to check where you were going, you saw it coming too late.

“OH SHIT!” You screamed as soon as you crashed into the wall.

You had a mini black out from the impact. You could tell it was mini because when you opened your eyes the wheels on the chairs were still spinning. Edward opened his eyes at the same time you did. When you got a better look at your surroundings and tried to move a bit, you realized that Edward was on top of you and he was blushing madly because he just realized it too.

“E-Edward, you’re kinda on top of me.” You said, blushing yourself.

“U-um, s-sorry ________.” He stammered.

Edward tried to get up so you could move, but in the process, his foot slipped on one of the wheels that fell off the chairs and he fell back on  top of you. When he did, his lips fell straight into yours.

Both of you had your eyes widen in shock. It was a complete accident but after a second, it wouldn’t have ben that bad. Edward quickly retracted and his face was completely red.

“__-_______, I’m s-sorry! I-It was an accident I didn’t mean-“

You cut him off by pressing your finger on his lips.

“Don’t be sorry. I don’t mind at all.” You said quietly, smiling.

You removed your finger from his lips and his expression was still shocked with a crap load of blush. His expression then changed to a nervous smile, blush not letting up.

“Heh, I guess I don’t need to worry. S-sorry for saying sorry.” He said dumbly. He looked hesitant, but you could tell he was leaning forward a bit.

You gave a small huff and a smile. You took your left arm and put your hand on the back of his head, pulling him down and pressing his lips onto yours. Not by accident this time.

You closed your eyes and put your right hand on his chest. Surprisingly, he kissed back without hesitation. He took his left hand and ran it through your hair. His automail hand came up to your waist and held you, but supported himself at the same time so he didn`t crush you. The feeling you had always wanted to feel was now happening. You could hardly believe it but here you were, kissing Ed on the floor. It was such a sweet, but meaningful kiss. Something odd was about his automail though. When it made contact with your skin, it didn`t feel cold. It felt almost, warm.

When you parted for air, you looked into his golden eyes and smiled. Ed then moved so you could sit up beside him. When you did, you spoke.

“Ed, there is something I want to say.” You started.

Edward’s body heated up a bit when you called him by his nickname. “Yeah?”

You took a deep breath before you spoke. “Ed, whenever you leave, I get sad. You’re always gone for so long and I miss you. I miss your jokes, your personality, your smile, hell, I even miss your rants when someone calls you short!” You smiled. “But it’s mostly because… I love you.”

There was a silence between the two of you for a while, then Ed pulled you into a warm hug. You leaned into him and sighed.

“Sorry I have to be gone so long. Stupid assed military.” He mumbled. “But I really do love you, and I’m sorry.”

“Yeah.” You said. Then something registered in your brain. He’s been saying sorry a lot. Then it clicked and you started giggling at what it was you remembered.

“What?” Ed asked, slightly confused.

“I just realized something! Like two minutes ago you said ‘sorry for saying sorry!’ Don’t you think that’s kinda redundant?” You laughed, elbowing him gently.

Ed started to laugh with you when you said that. “Hah! I guess it was. OH WELL!” He smiled.

“Gee, I wonder how pissed Roy is gonna be.” You wondered.

“Probably enraged that both of his chairs are screwed.” Ed responded, laughing lightly.

Just then, you heard Roy’s voice from one floor up scream; “Where the hell are my chairs?!” pause, then; “________! Edward! Where the hell are you!”

“Oh yeah, he’s definitely pissed.” Ed stated.

“And he knows it’s us! Quick! Run!” You laughed, grabbing Ed’s arm and running into your room, locking the door.

You heard Roy stomp down the stairs and past your door and to where the broken chairs were.

“Holy shit my chairs! Ohhhh, I am so burning up ________ and FullMetal’s ass for this!” Roy raged, stomping off.

Once you were sure he was gone, both of you burst out laughing.

“Ahahahah! Oh my god that’s funny shit!” You laughed.

“Yehes! Score for us!” Ed cheered, high fiving you.

After the high five, you walked up to your bed and jumped face first onto it. Ed followed and sat down beside you.

“Ah, that brings back good memories!” You grinned, sitting up properly on your bed beside him.

“Totally. Only I don’t think he ever got this pissed before. Maybe it’s because we actually broke the chairs this time.” Ed added.

You smiled and let out a deep sigh, leaning on Ed. You were definitely exhausted from the boring day that escalated quickly in the end.

“I can tell you’re tired.” Edward said.

“Yeah. Today was jank but then you got here! Plus that chair race definitely winded me. Especially when we ran smack into a wall.” You said.

“Oh yeah. Definitely when we crashed. Although, crashing into my crush was a pretty damn good thing to me, don’t ya think?” He smiled.

“Heh, hell yeah.” You yawned a huge yawn and stretched your arms. “Murr, I’m tired.” You grumbled.

Ed chuckled, “I guess you should go to bed then!”

He pulled back the covers for you and motioned to the bed.

“C’mon, lemme get dressed first!” You said, slipping off your bed and behind a screen.

It only took a minute for you to change into a light blue tee and blue striped shorts. You then jumped back onto your bed, basically diving under the covers and yanking them up to your chin. Ed laughed at you and got up from the bed.

“Well, I guess I’ll see ya tomorrow.” He said, starting to leave.

You shot your arm up and grabbed the sleeve of his red cloak.

“Don’t go Ed! Stay here. Besides, Mustang might be out there to get you!” You whined.

He smiled, “Fine. I can’t argue with that face.” He grinned. “But I’ll be taking off all this crap. Hope you don’t mind!” He gestured to his clothes, still grinning.

You shrugged, a light pink tinting your face.

Ed took off his gloves and cloak, throwing them down on a chair. He then removed his jacket thing and pocket watch. When he took off his tank top, you started to blush a bit more. He was so damn cute! He took the braid out of his hair and kicked off his shoes before jumping onto your bed, making you bounce up a bit.

“C’mon! Let me under yo covers!” Ed joked.

You laughed and lifted the covers up for him. He quickly slid in and crossed his hands behind his head.

“Thanks Ed. For coming back and being here. You really cheered me up!” You said happily. Then, you yawned again.

“You’re welcome ________. Now you should get some sleep. You’re tired as hell right now.” He said, gently kissing you on the nose.

“Yup. Night.” You mumbled. “Love ya.”

Ed let out a small sigh and smiled. “Love you too _______.” He whispered, brushing a few strands of hair from your face.
You snuggled close to Ed and buried your face into his chest. He put one of his arms around you pulling you closer, closing his eyes and breathing out happily. The two of you drifted off into a peaceful sleep with each other’s warmth. All was peaceful and sweet. That is, unless Roy barges in.
