Luffy X Reader: Embarrassment

It was just another one of those days on the Thousand Sunny. Heat from the sun beating down furiously on the deck, only to be foiled by sweet and cool refreshing drinks that Sanji had quickly whipped up, filling everyone’s bodies with a cool tropical flavour, dispelling the heat from them. Everyone was out on the deck, taking advantage of the calm and blue sparkling waters of the New World, letting the ship drift onward without any control but its own. Very rarely would such a day happen, considering the odds of a snowstorm after a great heat wave, perhaps to be followed up by a shower of lightning, or have everything be suddenly draped in a thick fog. The setting was perfect. The comforting warmth of the sun welcomed everyone on the deck, laying in chairs, leaning on the railing, standing and chatting, or being sprawled out on the soft grass of the deck, taking on the heat of the sun full force, but not without the help of Sanji’s drink of course.

You were one of the four sprawled out on the grass. The other three were of course; Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp, limbs fully stretched out under the heat of the sun.

Conversation was light, the occasional memory brought up here and there, and further discussion on the next island to stop at. It remained that way until quite an interesting topic was brought up by Robin, perhaps intending on provoking something, but it was unclear as to if she was, as the conversation had sparked quite a deep interest.

“I wonder, does anyone remember any of their most embarrassing moments?” Robin inquired, sipping the cool blue drink in her hand nonchalantly.

The four of you on the deck perked up and raised yourselves from the grass, ears willingly listening and intent on hearing the possible stories to come.

“Yeah, Sanji’s life. It’s all a complete embarrassment.” Zoro said bluntly from his resting place on the deck.

Merely meters away, Sanji’s smile dropped and so did the drinks as he whipped around in fury, holding his serving tray in threatening manner at Zoro.

“YOU MARIMO SHIT! HOW DARE YOU-!”

“Eeeeeasy Sanji.” Franky said, coaxing him to put town the silver tray.

“See what I mean?” Zoro added smartly, closing his right eye and attempting to doze off again.

Another yell was heard from Sanji as Franky held him back. A stern look was cast at Zoro from Nami, and had you giggling like a little girl at the whole scene.

“Anyway…” Usopp started, making his voice heard above everyone else’s. “We should continue on. This could get pretty interesting if we point out each-others embarrassing moments~!” He added, a sly grin spreading across his face.

“Oh? You mean like that time you ran away from nearly every enemy in sight, screaming for help like a five year old girl?” You piped up, a grin taking place on your own face.

Usopp’s smirk dropped and he began to stutter in protest, trying to deny that he indeed did that quite a lot. “S-shut up! That was two years ago!”

The air on the deck filled with everyone’s laughter at his response. Shrinking back a bit, Usopp’s face was tinted pink from embarrassment, remembering the whole situation.

Finding this quite enjoyable, you continued on, pointing out some embarrassing moments for the enjoyment of yourself and the others, depending on who you picked on.

“Oi Nami! How ‘bout when you got yourself completely wasted for some beli! Your face man!” You laughed, everyone else joining in while Nami blushed slightly. “OOO! Or how about when Zoro got lost in a town full of SIGNS! There were labels, ON THE LABELS!”

The deck roared with laughter while Zoro narrowed his one eye in a slightly angered manner, still ending up with the light pink blush dusting over his cheeks, unable to hide the embarrassment that came over him.

You had gone through nearly everyone ni the crew, exposing one or two embarrassing events for them while causing hilarity for the others. The only one not yet hit with a moment, was Luffy. He was too hard to think of something embarrassing for, considering everything he did was just plain weird all the time. Not thinking of something quick enough, Zoro interrupted and spoke out a rather embarrassing story for all, directing the event at Luffy, of course.

“Oi Luffy!” Zoro called, a smug grin plastered on his face. “If I remember correctly, you tolf me the lovely story of the island you landed on for two years! What moment was it that stuck out the most though…” Zoro sarcastically pondered. “Oh! In that jail cell, if I remember correctly.”

“Oh, do go on~!” You cooed, never actually hearing the full story in the first place.

Luffy sat there, looking as oblivious as a child. Still, Zoro pressed on, sure this would get him embarrassed, or to blush in the slightest. The deck soon fell silent, all ears opened to hear this juicy story that was about to be spilled. Those who have already heard it though, held their hands over their mouths to hold back the fit of giggles that wanted to burst up from inside them at the memorable story.

“Well, if my memory serves me right…” Zoro continued. “That cell was completely surrounded by women, and you, the one being held in the cell, were completely NAKED. And the best part, all those women were asking what that “thing” was hanging from your nether regions.” He finished, chuckling at the memory himself.

The whole deck burst out in laughter, some even tipping over and falling to the ground, while others had spit-takes with their drinks before belting out their loud laughter, including you, currently rocking back and forth on the deck, clutching your gut with both arms wrapped around your middle.

“They were my family jewels!” Luffy protested with the straightest possible face for this situation. “They kept asking me to take them off too…”

This only caused you to laugh louder and harder, struggling to find the oxygen around you to keep you breathing.

“I-I can’t believe he SAID THAT!” You laughed. “Not even embarrassed in the slightest! God! That’s so embarrassing I can feel it for myself!”

“OH! Speaking of which, no one has said anything embarrassing about YOU!” Zoro added in once the laughter died down enough for his voice to carry through the air and to you.

You instantly froze and tried to remember anything that was at the embarrassing caliber for you. Sadly, there were many things that were quite embarrassing over the years, and soon, everyone jumped on the idea and began to shout out all the things that were rather embarrassing, before you could even attempt to object at all.

“Say, wasn’t there that time you “gracefully” tripped and fell into a wall, then into the ground in the middle of a busy city after some random booze competition, right in front of us and half the town~?” Nami said first in a teasing manner.

Your face instantly went pink as everyone laughed at the memory. Soon, one after another, the crew took shots at you, your face growing redder at every comment. Soon, by the time nearly everyone had gotten a comment of revenge for you pointing out everyone else’s moments, your face as almost completely red as you attempted to look natural while trying to hide it.

“HAHAHAHA! ________’s face is sooooo red~!” Luffy laughed, pointing at you like a child.

“S-shut the hell up! It’s not fair that you won’t even get embarrassed or even blush a BIT at something as extreme as your situation!” You argued, pouting slightly while the red refused to leave your face.

Perking up, Zoro raised a brow with a smug grin on his face. “Speaking of Luffy, I do believe that you told me you just so happen to like-!”

Jumping up, you shot yourself at Zoro faster than ever before, knocking him over and covering his mouth with one hand, your face now a glowing red.

“DON’T, FINISH, THAT, SENTENCE.” You growled through clenched teeth, eyeing him angrily.

A bunch of  “ooo’s” and giggles came from everyone on deck. They knew what he was going to say. Everyone but Luffy of course. Your face as absolutely glowing a bright red from the attention that was now put on you and Zoro’s comment. Zoro himself bust out laughing and rolled away from you onto his stomach where he proceeded to slap the deck with one hand while laughing uncontrollably. Luffy looked at you curiously with a tilted head as you backed away from Zoro. You looked over at Luffy to see a grin spread across his face, bit not long enough to see the curious and unsure emotions behind it. Still fuming, you stomped off into the kitchen angrily, still full of embarrassment, and slamming the door behind you violently to block out all the noise.

The laughter continued on from the rest of the crew, finally all having their victorious laugh back at you. Though, Luffy wasn’t laughing. He stood there dumbly for a moment, a part of his brain clicking that never worked before. Not for very long though, as his normal nature took over once again. Curiosity still lingered within him though, so he wandered from the laugher filled air of the outside deck and into the kitchen, where you had stomped off oh so violently.

Mumbling and grumbling to yourself, you paced back and forth beside the counter, fanning your face to rid it of the blush while eating a banana for comfort food. Finishing it, you tossed the peel blindly away from you somewhere on the floor. Not giving a care, still angry and embarrassed from before.

Stomping your feet in place facing the door form a few feet back, you put your hands over your face, slapping it a few times to try and clear your mind.

“Stupid marimo shit. I can’t believe he almost said that. And everyone else knew too! Dammit!” You cursed. “I swear to god I will fucking kill him. At least Luffy is dim witted enough to not get it.” You added.

Suddenly, the door to the kitchen came flying open and caused you to jump slightly in surprise at the sound. Now looking forward, Luffy store on in through the door, slamming it shut behind him in a casual manner.

“Yo _______! Whatcha doin’ in here?” Luffy asked, stopping just in front of the closed door and facing you with a large grin.

“O-oh! It’s just you.” You breathed, sighing out the surprise. “N-nothing important. Just standing here. You need something?”

“Yep! I’m curious.” He stated.

“Curious..?”

“Why do you get embarrassed so easily?” He asked, rather straight forwardly.

Blinking a few times, you stared at him dumbly. “U-ummm…” You stammered evasively. “Well, why don’t you get embarrassed at ALL!” You pointed out, changing the subject.

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about!” He laughed.

“You don’t even BLUSH! Hasn’t ANYTHING made you blush ever? Even a little?” You asked.

“Nope!” He grinned. “But… one person can at the right times…”

“Huh, really?”

“Yeah, but I was the one asking the questions!” He said, directing the subject back at you/ “Another thing I wanted to know was what Zoro was about to say out there! You and everyone else seemed to know!”

Blush rose to your face once again at the question, now fearful that he would find out. “N-nothing! He was going to say absolutely nothing!” You stuttered.

“Yes he was!” Luffy persisted. “I wanna know!”

“No! It’s nothing!” You argued, shaking your head.

Luffy kept persisting and you kept denying. Eventually, Luffy started to walk towards you as if to look intimidating and get an answer from you. On his walk in your direction though, in the quick pace he took up, Luffy failed to notice the banana peel you had casted away from before, which was conveniently placed between the two of you. As soon as he was only a foot or two away from you, he slipped on the peel unexpectedly and sent himself flying forward and into you, knocking the both of you to the floor with him on top of you, followed by a fairly audible thump.

“Ow! What the hell Luffy!” You grunted, eyes squinted shut from the impact.

One hand pressed on the side of your head to reduce the pain, you opened your eyes slowly, only to come face to face with a sight that made your blush return to a warm pink at its quickest rate yet. Luffy, on top of you, on the floor. Opening his own eyes, Luffy looked down at you unblinkingly, almost a hint of blush crossing his own face. Slight awkwardness hung in the silence of the room, allowing your blush to slowly graduate from a light to a hot pink.

“S-sorry _______!” Luffy said, breaking the silence with a slight stammer.

“C-can you get off me?” you replied, averting your eyes from his.

He nodded quickly and began to pick himself up off the floor and you. During this though, due to Luffy’s clumsy nature, he tripped on nothingness and fell right back down on top of you, conveniently landing his lips right onto yours.

Both yours and his eyes widened immensely  and your once pink blush exploded into a deep red one, his own face mocking the red colour. Something told the both of you to move, but at the same time, something else didn’t wasn’t you to at all. Only seconds into the accidental kiss, someone had opened the door to the kitchen as wide as it could go, leaving a gaping open space for the rest of the deck to see inside.

“Oi! I heard a loud thump! What’s going on in he-!” Zoro said, stopping himself short at the sight of you and Luffy with the biggest and most smug grin spread across his face. “Ooooh~! I see what’s going on here~!” He teased, attracting the attention of a few others to the door, gawking and giggling at the two of you.

Immediately, Luffy pulled away from you, his face coated in red as he quickly moved off you and stretched out one of his arms, slamming the door shut harshly and turning away on the floor, looking down at the ground once his arm snapped back.

Laughter could be heard from outside the door and Luffy’s face was completely red with embarrassment.

“Stupid Zoro!” Luffy mumbled, sitting with his back to the door.

You sat yourself up from the ground and looked at the door, then at Luffy. Touching your heated lips with one hand, you stared at him, grumbling on the floor about how Zoro got the wrong idea. For the first time in ever, he looked genuinely embarrassed. Even more so than a person would be for some of the things he has been through and brushed off as nothing.

“I’ve never seen you so… embarrassed before.” You finally said, breaking the silence.

“I’m NOT embarrassed!” Luffy argued, continuing to mumble threats about Zoro.

Getting over your own state of embarrassment, you watched Luffy with his glowing red face/ Never before has he been so embarrassed, and this was just getting caught for something at the wrong time. Yes, it was embarrassing to you as well, but you were handling it much better than he was. Nothing ever usually got to him. You remembered him saying that one person could make him possibly blush at all, and putting the pieces together, he could have only meant you, considering the situation and the state he was in too. Continuing to stare at him, you watched as he fiddled with his fingers on the floor, looking rather pouty. Forgetting that you were clearly caught by Zoro in an accidental act, you giggled slightly at how he was acting. He did look rather cute when he was embarrassed.

“Luffy, you look so cute when you’re embarrassed`!” You teased, covering your still heated face with one hand.

The red on his face increased and he almost seemed to be steaming now, refusing to speak anymore.

“By the way, you don’t have to apologise for before. It’s alright. I didn’t really mind it.” You added. “Though I did mind Zoro…”

Luffy glanced up at you with his childish and defiant expression, his lower lip sticking out with a pouty look about his eyes.

Since everyone already knew, Zoro and a few others saw, and your confidence level just got a small boost inside you, you figured why not to the thought in your head, since he was already like this.

“I’ll tell you what Zoro was about to say out there now.” You said, taking in a deep breath. “He was about to say that I liked you out loud in front of everyone, including you. That’s why I became so embarrassed suddenly and threw myself at him to shut him up. But it really doesn’t matter at this moment anymore, since I think I can tell that alongside my feelings, you feels the same. Just going by your reactions~!” You said with a small laugh.

Upon what you said, Luffy looked up at you slowly before quickly looking away again, but he also stretched out one of his arms and grabbed you, pulling you closer to him until you were side by side on the floor. “… I do… Feel the same, I mean.” He mumbled quietly.

Laughing a bit at his response, you were about to say something until the door was opened once again by Zoro.

“Hey! It got a little quiet in here. I was wondering what’s going on~!” He said.

Now with a huge frown on his face, Luffy started to stretch back one of his fists to angrily punch Zoro across the deck, but suddenly, you stopped him by turning his head around and kissing him for real this time, right in front of Zoro. Luffy’s eyes widened once again, but he took the time to see where you were going with this, so he just let it happen and he kissed back. Not like he didn’t want to anyway.

This actually caught Zoro off guard. He stood there, watching the two of you kiss, unable to make a smart-assed remark anymore. Completely at the inability to make you embarrassed any longer, he backed away with a poker face, forgetting to close the door as he left.

Smiling with success into the kiss, you pulled Luffy closer, no longer keeping such an embarrassing secret to yourself. He must’ve felt relieved too, since you felt him smile back into the kiss, wrapping his arms around you, giving no fucks for those who saw the scene anymore.

Off in the distance, through the open door, the wail of a wild Sanji could be heard, followed by a thump of despair and whimpering.
